上布（じょうふ）とは上等な麻織物のことで、能登上布は、約2,000年前に崇神天皇の皇女が中能登地方で機織りを教えたことが起源と伝えられています。
手織りの麻の素材感、独自の手染技術から生まれる緻密で凛とした経緯絣（たてよこがすり）、ひんやり涼しい風合い、「蝉の羽」のような透け感や軽さ、丈夫さ、シャリ感、光沢感、張り感が魅力です。
Jofu refers to top-grade ramie fabric, and notojofu is said to have originated nearly 2,000 years ago, when a princess of Emperor Sujin taught weaving techniques to the people of the Nakanoto region. Its appeal lies in the texture of hand‑woven hemp, the refined and meticulously crafted kasuri patterns produced through unique hand‑dyeing techniques, and its cool, refreshing feel. Notojofu is also admired for its translucent, lightweight quality reminiscent of cicada wings, along with its durability, crisp texture, natural luster, and elegant firmness.
