We aim to create a virtuous cycle of earning power in the economy of the Chubu region by helping local governments and businesses try new endeavors in growth fields (or make regional future investment) by maximizing such regional characteristics as manufacturing, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, and tourism.
Under the Regional Future Investment Promotion Law (enforced in July 2017), businesses can receive special treatment in taxation, be granted exemption from regulations, and receive financial support by formulating a regional economic development business plan, based on the local government’s basic plan, and subsequently receiving approval from the local government.
In addition, to back up efforts made by businesses that play a leading role in the regional economy, we have established an “Investment in the Regional Future Promotion Office,” in which we have set up consultation desks, operated by “Regional Future Concierges” in charge of individual prefectures, which collaborate with regional support organizations to offer comprehensive support and help disseminate information.
Producing entrepreneurs, or new business owners, is an important initiative to revitalize the region and secure job opportunities.
As an unique initiative transcending prefectural borders, which cannot be found in any other bureaus of Economy, Trade and Industry around Japan, we have launched the Hokuriku Startup Support Network, consisting of support staff from municipalities in Toyama and Ishikawa Prefectures and support organizations. The Network holds lectures by key persons inside and outside the Hokuriku region who work on startup support and community development, and workshops to discuss startup support. By providing municipalities with opportunities for interaction, we encourage the Hokuriku region, as an integral whole, to improve its startup support skills and share know-how, aiming to have the region selected by startup aspirants.
For the purpose of boosting demand outside the region and helping revitalize the regional economy and invigorate local SMEs, we support SMEs in the Chubu region in their efforts toward overseas expansion or nationwide expansion in anticipation of overseas expansion, such as developing new products and services, making improvements to them, and branding.
We put effort into providing help, including business matching with domestic and overseas buyers, with developing sales channels for products made from the Chubu region’s abundant resources and attractive products made through agriculture-commerce-industry collaboration between SMEs and agricultural workers, forestry workers, and fishermen.
